Little Ruby’s Café, one of NYC’s most beloved Australian-inspired restaurants, is seeking a passionate and experienced Assistant General Manager to oversee front-of-house (FOH) operations. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume environment and is dedicated to warm hospitality, team development, and consistent service execution.

Position Summary:

As the Assistant General Manager , you’ll be responsible for managing all day-to-day FOH activities. Your role is critical in ensuring smooth and efficient service, upholding our brand standards, and leading a high-performing team. From scheduling and staffing to training, compliance, and guest satisfaction, you’ll help keep Little Ruby’s running at the highest level.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist the General Manager in all aspects of the operation
• Lead and supervise FOH operations to ensure seamless, high-quality service
• Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and genuine hospitality
• Interview, hire, train, and coach FOH staff
• Manage staff scheduling to meet labor and service targets
• Conduct performance reviews and ongoing staff development
• Maintain deep knowledge of food and beverage menus to support guest-facing staff
• Oversee POS functions, cash handling, and shift reconciliation
• Monitor and order operational supplies
• Ensure compliance with local health, safety, and labor regulations
• Enforce sanitation standards in line with DOH and company policy
• Oversee completion of opening and closing procedures
• Work closely with BOH and management to ensure a cohesive service experience
• Participate in daily pre-shift meetings and ongoing training sessions
• Troubleshoot and report any facility or equipment issues as needed

Qualifications:

• 3-5 years of Senior management experience in a high-volume restaurant or hospitality setting
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
• Strong financial acumen
• Able to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment
• Comfortable using POS systems, scheduling tools, and Microsoft Office
• Completion of (or willingness to obtain) Food Handler’s Certificate, PCI/DSS, and Alcohol Awareness Training
• Ability to stand, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs for extended periods
• Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
• Experience working in fast-paced, physically demanding environments
