Compensation: $70,000 - $105,000 annually, depending on experience
Work Arrangement: Hybrid (minimum 2 days in-office per week) with potential remote flexibility for qualified candidates

About the Opportunity

Springborn Staffing is partnering with a growing financial services organization in the Greater Portland area that specializes in fund administration and investment accounting services. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional interested in private equity, hedge funds, alternative investments, and complex fund structures.

The ideal candidate will have experience in fund accounting, investment accounting, public accounting, or financial services and enjoy working in a collaborative, team-oriented environment. This position offers exposure to sophisticated investment vehicles, opportunities for professional growth, and the chance to develop expertise in a highly specialized area of accounting.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare daily, monthly, and quarterly Net Asset Value (NAV) calculations for private equity and hedge fund clients.
• Perform cash, portfolio, and investment reconciliations.
• Calculate and record income accruals, expense accruals, and investment valuations.
• Prepare capital call, distribution, and investor communication notices.
• Calculate carried interest and support complex waterfall and preferred return structures.
• Allocate profits, losses, management fees, and performance fees to investors.
• Prepare financial statements and supporting schedules for fund clients.
• Review partnership agreements, offering documents, and investor agreements to ensure accurate accounting treatment.
• Process fund expenses and cash movement transactions accurately and timely.
• Generate investor reports, client reports, and other recurring fund reporting packages.
• Support audit requests, regulatory examinations, and board reporting requirements.
• Communicate directly with clients, auditors, attorneys, and internal stakeholders regarding fund accounting matters.
• Assist with process improvements and contribute to the overall success of the fund accounting team.

Requirements & Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Economics, or a related field.
• Experience in fund accounting, public accounting, investment accounting, financial services, or a related field.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis functions.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to learn complex financial structures and accounting concepts quickly.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred

• Private Equity Fund Accounting experience.
• Hedge Fund Accounting experience.
• Experience working with investor accounting or portfolio accounting platforms.
• Familiarity with carried interest calculations and waterfall structures.
• Experience supporting audits and regulatory reporting.
• CPA designation or progress toward CPA certification.
